Position Summary
As a young and quickly growing company that combines financial understanding and engineering, MerQube’s environment is fast-paced, collegial, flexible and offers meaningful work. We are hiring an Index Operations Senior Analyst to be responsible for the daily maintenance of index operations, focusing data quality and supporting both internal and external ad hoc projects. Supported by the Director of Operations, you will join a culture of respect, transparency, and strong collaboration.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in managing processes for handling incoming financial data, including analysis and validation.
- Identify and investigate potential errors in incoming data, liaising with data vendors as needed.
- Conduct research on corporate actions like Mergers & Acquisitions, Spin Offs, and Rights Issues for index application.
- Aid in the launch and maintenance of new client and MerQube branded indices.
- Conduct rigorous quality checks prior to index launch, ensuring meticulous adherence to agreed-upon methodologies and regulatory guidelines, and proactively identify opportunities for enhancement and innovation.
- Assist in reviewing index methodologies, benchmarks, and compliance statements.
- Contribute to automating processes, including validating financial data.
- Support operations across asset classes such as equity, fixed income, derivatives, and commodities.
- Provide client support regarding index data and calculations.
- Assist in ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Help perform end-of-day checks to maintain data quality before index dissemination.
- Assist in screening rebalancing requirements and implementation.
Qualifications
- Strong understanding of financial market data and news, with a willingness to learn more and develop further.
- Strong understanding of financial data sets and applications like FactSet, Reuters, Morningstar, and Bloomberg.
- Expert in researching corporate action details and their impact on indices, with a desire to deepen this knowledge.
- Knowledge of financial benchmarks, ETFs, index methodologies, and rebalances, with the ability to grasp concepts ranging from basic to more complex.
- Experienced in process improvement initiatives, with the ability to contribute to writing requirements for engineering.
- Exposure to customer support roles, including internal customer support, and a willingness to further develop these skills.
- Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Bachelor’s degree in finance or a related field, or currently pursuing such a degree.
- Basic knowledge of SQL and Python, with the ability to learn and apply these skills in a professional setting.
- Awareness of Benchmark Regulations and IOSCO principles, with a willingness to gain further understanding in these areas.
