What are the responsibilities and job description for the Woodshop Training Coordinator position at Merritt?
PURPOSE
The Training Coordinator is responsible for communicating and coordinating with managers and Human Resources to identify training needs and mapping out development plans for teams and individuals. The Training Coordinator is responsible for managing, designing, developing, coordinating and conducting all training programs.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- In coordination with HR, Plant Manager and Leadership, map out annual training plans for all current company personnel and new hire orientation
- Design and develop training programs (in-house and/or outsourced)
- Select appropriate training methods or activities (e.g. simulations, on-the-job training, professional development, classroom, etc.)
- Market available training to employees and provide necessary information about sessions
- In coordination with HR, Operations Manager and Leadership, conduct annual/bi-annual organization-wide training needs assessment and identify skills or knowledge gaps that need to be addressed
- Use known education principles and stay up-to-date on new training methods and techniques
- Design, prepare and order educational aids and materials
- Assess instructional effectiveness and determine impact of training on employee skills
- Gather feedback from trainers and trainees after each educational session and analyze for continuous improvement
- Partner with internal stakeholders and experts regarding instructional design
- Maintain updated curriculum database and training records
- Maintain in-house training facilities and equipment
- Research and recommend new training methods and models
QUALIFICATIONS
- B.S. degree in Education, Training, Communication or related field OR at least 5 years of direct proven work experience as a Training Coordinator, Trainer, Training Facilitator or similar role
- Hands-on experience coordinating multiple training events in a company setting
- Knowledge of instructional design theory and implementation
- Adequate knowledge of learning management systems (LMS) and web delivery tools
- Proven ability to complete full training cycle (assess needs, plan, develop, coordinate, monitor and evaluate)
- MS Office proficiency, especially PowerPoint
- High organizational skills with the ability to effectively manage multiple assignments
- Strong communication skills
