What are the responsibilities and job description for the Quality Assurance Manager position at Messer Americas?
Purpose of the position
- Actively manage product quality related matters for Helium and Hydrogen. Ensuring alignment within Messer operations and business functions to promote a strong Quality culture.
- Work collaboratively and in partnership with HSEQ, Operations, Distribution, CES, Commercial Development, Product Management, Sales, Performance Transformation, Electronics, and our customers to develop, champion, implement and sustain Hydrogen and Helium Quality Assurance strategies, policies, standards, guidelines, processes, and best practices.
- Build sustainable process improvement initiatives in quality that are beneficial to Messer and our customers considering the need to minimizing operational costs without sacrificing Messer's commitment to quality.

Principal responsibilities
- Act as the subject matter expert in Messer Helium/Hydrogen and Customer quality requirements and procedures. This requires supporting all field personnel as well as all central support functions.
- Manage Messer technical quality documents and procedures, certification documentation and other key technical documents.
- Manage the quality incident database which includes incident reporting, investigation, and analysis of data for key trends and focus areas for improvement.
- Monitor performance against Hydrogen and Helium Quality Assurance standards and champion suggestions for continuous improvement.
- Monitor and facilitate timely completion of quality-related corrective and preventive actions and assess their effectiveness. Manage and update relevant audit question sets as appropriate.
- Supporting customer quality audits. Assist with site preparation, execution, and corrective and preventive actions for audits, as well as supporting certification audits such as ISO 9001, FSSC 2200, and others.
- Support business needs and influence businesses strategies by providing up-to-date information on legislation and technology developments that may be significant in Hydrogen and Helium Quality Assurance.
- Manage Mock Recall completion.
- Provide risk assessments and recommend mitigation actions to minimize business impact.
- Visibly and substantially support our Safety Culture through proactive engagement.
- Visibly and substantially support the Messer Behavioural Safety through proactive engagement.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Required qualifications/experience
- 4-year degree in a technical area in Science or similar years of industry experience
- Minimum of 5 years of industrial gases or related process industry experience and / or working knowledge of Intel QOS or other similar quality programs
- Must be proficient with structured incident investigation tools
- Must be proficient with Microsoft Office, Excel, PowerPoint, Word
- Up to 50% travel required
