We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Machine Learning Research Scientist to join our team. The successful candidate will work on developing state-of-the-art multimodal sensory hand pose foundation models and hand gesture recognition systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in machine learning, computer vision, HCI, and deep learning, with a focus on multi-modal learning for pose regression and/or gesture recognition.
Research Scientist, Machine Learning (PhD) Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement novel machine learning algorithms for multi-modal hand pose foundation modeling and gesture recognition.

Work with researchers, designers, engineers, and other roles, to explore and enable high-value AR/VR interactions and test critical hypotheses

Collaborate with a team of researchers and engineers to develop and deploy new models, techniques, demos.

Write high-quality, well-documented code to implement and evaluate new algorithms.

Contribute to the development of research papers and presentations.

Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in machine learning, computer vision, signal processing and deep learning.
Minimum Qualifications:
-
Currently had or is in the process of obtaining a PhD degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience

Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience. Degree must be completed prior to joining Meta.

2 years of experience in machine learning, computer vision, and deep learning.

Experience with deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch.

Experience in Python, C , or other relevant languages.

Must obtain work authorization in the country of employment at the time of hire, and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment.
Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with multi-modal foundation modeling

Experience with hand gesture recognition

Experience with human pose or hand pose tracking

Experience with large-scale dataset preparation and management.

Experience in wearable sensors / systems and non-CV signals processing e.g. EMG, IMU, EEG.

Experience working and communicating cross functionally in a team environment.

Proven track record of achieving significant results as demonstrated by grants, fellowships, patents, as well as publications at leading workshops, journals or conferences such as CHI, NeurIPS, CVPR, ICRA or similar related to human-computer interaction, machine learning, computer vision, or robotics.

Experience solving complex problems and comparing alternative solutions, tradeoffs, and diverse points of view to determine a path forward.
