On the Reality Labs team, we are inventing the future. We are a team of Engineers, Designers and Researchers creating human-computer interaction products. As a Hardware UX Researcher on the Reality Labs team, you will plan, execute, and evangelize user-focused research that contributes to the strategy, product definition, and design of AR/VR technologies and intelligent assistant voice-interfaces.Hardware UX researchers and human factors specialists are responsible for delivering technical expertise in areas like cognition, perception, biomechanics, and ergonomics, partnering with hardware engineering and industrial design to build best in class devices. The role will be responsible for developing foundational data sets and research-based, durable design principles to influence hardware development today and in the future, as well as conducting studies to directly inform product design and strategy. Strong candidates will demonstrate a rigorous and creative approach to scientific research methods as well as have experience shipping hardware products.Ultimately, your expertise and ingenuity in research must do more than just contribute to knowledge – you must also be skilled at driving measurable positive impact on product and the user experience.

Responsibilities:
- Define and establish cognitive, perceptual, and ergonomic insights and frameworks that help us understand tradeoffs & dependencies across business, experience, & technology workstreams
- Work closely with product, design, engineering and business teams to identify research topics
- Act as a thought leader in the domain of research, while advocating for the people who could use our products
- Design and execute end-to-end custom primary research using a wide variety of methods
- Design studies that address both user behavior and attitudes
- Effectively manage and prioritize research plans through ambiguous and fast-changing environments, align and efficiently execute critical insights and work with a large group of stakeholders
- Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure research results impact product
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field with 4 years’ of relevant experience or a Master’s degree in related field and 2 years’ relevant experience, or PhD in related field and relevant experience
- Relevant experience within user experience, applied research setting and/or product research and development
- Interest in and experience executing hands-on, primary research
- Experience translating research findings into strategic narratives
