What are the responsibilities and job description for the Technician - Entry Level position at MetOx Technologies, Inc.?
Technician
Job Position Overview
MetOx Technologies, Inc. (“MetOx”) is seeking a full-time R&D Technician to expand its operations.
MetOx
MetOx is a Houston-based, high-tech company that is manufacturing high temperature superconducting (2G HTS) wire, a product and process that will empower the future of electricity. MetOx’s Xeus 2G HTS wire will accelerate energy transitions by aiding growth of the grid, enabling certain types of clean energy, and allowing more advanced medical devices.
Today, MetOx is in the beginning of a multi-year growth period that will see operations of continuous commercial production using a new train of production equipment that is already being built and rapid development of new larger plants that are already in being engineered.
Responsibilities
In this role, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining manufacturing equipment which is used to make 2G HTS wire on pilot production scale.
The candidate will be a part of small technical team, which operates and maintains advanced vacuum web coating equipment (Pilot Plant) and Quality Control (QC) tools. Reporting to the Chief Technology Officer and working in close concert with the Pilot Plant Manager and other team members the candidate will be responsible for trusted operation of the equipment and for taking measurements with QC tools that include ICP-OES, SEM, EDX, X-ray diffraction, testing wires for current flow, and other advanced instruments. You will work with engineers and scientists who rely on this information to optimize production of the commercial plant and to develop next generation production equipment.
Since this is a small fast-moving company the candidate will be expected to perform a variety of additional roles from time to time. Examples Include:
• Develop and/or maintain operating procedures
• Develop and/or maintain digital and physical records of samples
• General maintenance of the facility
• Maintain process and QC equipment
The candidate will have a clear career path that includes opportunities to contribute to data analysis, design of future tests and equipment, and promotions within the R&D group. In addition, MetOx is expanding and the candidate may choose to apply for positions in operations and other groups.
