Registered Dietician Consultant
Location: Jessup, Md
Job Description: We are searching for a skilled dietician who is passionate about providing outstanding clinical nutritional care services to patients and clients in Maryland Department of Health hospital facility. The candidate will apply nutritional principles in patient care and perform in accordance with the individual treatment plans developed by health care professionals and the policies of the health facility Dietetic program.

About the Role: The Registered Dietician (RD) Consultant performs initial assessments to analyze patients’ health status, and documents dietary care plans. The RD will make recommendations to the medical director on diet prescriptions and evaluate diet plan for nutritional adequacy, appropriateness, and tolerance according to patient diagnosis. Specific duties include:
- Monitor patient response to medical nutrition therapy and recommend changes when required.
- Utilize expert judgement to perform nutritional consultations when requested by physicians and provide written reports to the food service director following each visit and/or contact with the facility.
- Consult with medical and other professionals including the Certified Dietary Manager concerning individual food habits and needs of assigned patients/clients.
- Plan menus for modified diets based on the indicated physiological and psychological needs of patients/clients and monitor meals served for conformance to diet prescriptions and acceptance.
- Participate in medical staff conferences, rounds, and consultations and document pertinent nutritional information on patient/client medical records.
- Counsel patients/clients and others on the requirements and importance of prescribed modified diets and how to plan and prepare food.
- Provide consulting services for a minimum of twenty-four (24) hours per week.
- Furnish a copy of current Registration and Licensure and maintain these certifications for the term of the contract.
- Attend a 3-day orientation scheduled for May 18 – 20, 2022.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Dietetics from an accredited college or university
- Current license as a Dietitian/Nutritionist from the Maryland Board of Dietetic Practice
- Registered by the Commission on dietetic Registration (CDR) and maintain current registration during time of employment
- Must provide proof of COVID-19 vaccinations
- Minimum experience: one year
