About the Role
This key role is responsible for the creation of controls/electrical design and programs that meet the technical, project cost, and schedule criteria of projects. Leading projects through the design and also being the primary technical contact (both internally and externally) through manufacturing, assembly, debug, final acceptance, and service.
In this role you will be expected to:
- Develop and maintain standards in design of control systems for new models and modules.
- Concept and layout of the controls, electrical and pneumatic systems for assigned projects.
- Develop efficient software programs for assigned projects.
- Attend, support and document Concept and Design Reviews
- Maintain all technical documentation for assigned projects including but not limited to Functional Specifications, schematics, programs.
- Project lead technical contact providing project support through manufacturing, assembly and debugging to final acceptance.
- Programming support throughout the assembly debug process.
- Keep abreast of new applicable Provide Service support for past projects. Support internal and customer design reviews.
- Maintain engineering standards.
- Sales support: technical consultation, review of customer specifications
- Provide support for Customer FAT activities.
- Analyzes designs to increase safety, effectiveness and efficiency and reduce costs.
- Support and promote the Company’s values through day-to-day words, actions and gestures.
Specific, demonstrated experience working with:
- High speed, 200 ppm, intermittent and continuous motion machinery
- PLC and computer programming and interfaces
- Servo/Stepper motor control and associated software
- Barcode, vision, check weighing and laser systems.
- Machine robotics
- Pneumatic and vacuum circuits
- Schematics and machine wiring.
What you need to be successful
- BSEE or equivalent or 2-year AA with 5 years of relevant work experience
- 1 year of automated machine design experience preferred with BSEE or 8 years of automated machine design experience with 2-year AA degree (packaging industry preferred)
- Proficient in electrical design software, AutoCAD Electrical preferred
- Proven problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills, written and oral.
- Effective interpersonal skills working within a team environment.
- Strong planning and prioritization skills including the ability to work with limited supervision.
- Some travel may be required (less than 20% expected average)
