What are the responsibilities and job description for the Materials Planner position at MHS?

Technical Skills and Job Specific Tasks:
- Partner with the Commodity Buyer to coordinate planning activities with specific supplier and commodity strategies.
- Daily ordering, expediting, follow-up, maintenance, and confirmation of required components using the MRP scheduling system.
- Confirm and maintain supplier delivery data in MRP/ERP system. Maintain smooth and efficient flow of incoming material to support production and meet on-time delivery goals.
- Communicate material shortages to production planning.
- Maintain MRP planning parameters including, data set-up and maintenance of new and revised items, routings, and BOMs.
- Review past due orders and follow-up with suppliers daily.
- Coordinate component delivery logistics.
- Proactively identify cost reduction initiatives and other supply chain strategies to improve net working capital.
- Work with Quality team when needed to coordinate return authorizations associated with NCRDs. Coordinate returns/replacements with suppliers: process return shipments and paperwork for defective or rejected purchased material.
Qualifications:
- Associates or Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain or related field.
- At least 5 years' experience in a manufacturing/industrial company in a material planning role.
- Experience managing requirements and/or planning in an MRP or ERP environment, SAP preferred.
- Proficient use of Microsoft Excel.
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem solving skills.
- Willingness to travel up to 25%.
- Must have the current and continuing right to work in the United States of America without sponsorship.
