What are the responsibilities and job description for the Utility Technician position at Mi-Tech?
Mi-Tech offers a broad range of professional, engineering and technical services to the telecommunications and power delivery markets. We have a current opening for a Utility Technician. At Mi-Tech, we support our customers and stakeholders and constantly strive to exceed expectations with all of our services, which include: Communications Design Services, Energy Distribution Services, Utility Pole Inspection, and Environmental Services.
Responsibilities:
- Collecting Field Data utilizing GPS Units
- Responsible for taking field notes and completing data collection for utility projects
- Documentation of field data and taking measurements of existing utilities attached to power or communication company poles
- Complete and File permit applications
- Utilize software programs to analyze and compile collected field data
Requirements:
- Overnight Travel may be required for the completion of job duties
- Valid drivers license
- The ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Applicants must be detail-orientated and have the ability to multi-task
- Ability to utilize Microsoft Office and learn new software
- Ability to handle more than one project at a time and to meet deadlines
Preferred Knowledge and Abilities
- Knowledge in the Utility Industry. Specifically: Telecommunications, CATV, Gas, or Power Distribution
- GIS, Utility Technician, Survey, or Civil Engineering Certificate, an Associate degree or a Bachlors degree
- Knowledge utilizing GPS and data collectors
- Knowledge with AutoCAD and/or GIS software
