Nature Of Work
The School Nurse will be responsible for coordinating and maintaining health care services with the Miami-Dade County Department of Public Health and other providers, and making provisions for the appropriate health care needs of students, infants, and toddlers. Applicants should meet the requirements of a registered nurse. The School Nurse will work under the supervision and direction of the school principal.
Job Tasks/Assignments
This work requires the following physical activities: mobility, sitting, lifting, finger dexterity, grasping, repetitive motions, talking, hearing and visual acuity, frequent in-county travel, and occasionally work on evenings and weekends.
Minimum Qualification Requirements
Licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse in accordance with F.S. 464 or eligibility to practice nursing in accordance with Florida Administrative Code 210-8.
OR
Certification as an Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner in accordance with Florida Statute 464.

- Serves as school liaison with health providers to assure high quality health care services.
- Arranges for the Health Department to provide on-site clinical services.
- Participates in case conference meetings.
- Assists physicians.
- Orders and maintains inventory of supplies for the clinic.
- Prepares clinical charts.
- Gives medication as prescribed by physicians.
- Applies nursing principles and techniques in the care and treatment of patients (infants/toddlers).
- Performs related work as required or as assigned.
