A notable and well known nonprofit is looking for a motivated and organized HR Generalist to join their growing New York City team.
Job Description
- Assist with recruiting, screening and hiring of qualified candidates
- Participate in Interviews and New Hire Induction as needed
- Conduct reference checks on all potential employees and respond to reference requests for past/current employees
- Communicate regularly with department heads to monitor employment, LOA, and FMLA needs at all locations
- Assist in retention of staff by coordinating and scheduling management staff training courses in areas such as interviewing, disciplinary action, employee recognition, evaluation, and conflict resolution
- Recommend incentive programs to enhance employee morale, recognition, safety, health, etc
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date information for human resources files
- File workers compensation claims and follow up with compensation provider
- Review invoices for recruiting related expenses
- Ensure compliance with applicable employment laws and agency personnel policies and procedures, and the Division of Developmental Disabilities regulations
- Track performance reviews for Union and Non-Union employees
The Successful Applicant
- Must have a minimum of 4 years HR experience with at least 3 years Employee Relations Experience
- Labor Relations experience
- Bachelor's degree
- Experience with HRIS systems
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
