About Our Client

A notable and well known nonprofit is looking for a motivated and organized HR Generalist to join their growing New York City team.

Job Description

  • Assist with recruiting, screening and hiring of qualified candidates
  • Participate in Interviews and New Hire Induction as needed
  • Conduct reference checks on all potential employees and respond to reference requests for past/current employees
  • Communicate regularly with department heads to monitor employment, LOA, and FMLA needs at all locations
  • Assist in retention of staff by coordinating and scheduling management staff training courses in areas such as interviewing, disciplinary action, employee recognition, evaluation, and conflict resolution
  • Recommend incentive programs to enhance employee morale, recognition, safety, health, etc
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date information for human resources files
  • File workers compensation claims and follow up with compensation provider
  • Review invoices for recruiting related expenses
  • Ensure compliance with applicable employment laws and agency personnel policies and procedures, and the Division of Developmental Disabilities regulations
  • Track performance reviews for Union and Non-Union employees

The Successful Applicant

  • Must have a minimum of 4 years HR experience with at least 3 years Employee Relations Experience
  • Labor Relations experience
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Experience with HRIS systems
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
