Job Title:
Literacy Support Consultant
Job Summary:
The Literacy Support Consultant is responsible for consultation to constituent school district programs and/or Genesee Intermediate School District (GISD) center-based programs regarding the planning and implementation of specially designed instruction for literacy.
Essential Duties (May include, but not limited to):
Provides consultation services on individual students served by constituent school districts and/or GISD center-based programs.
Provides consultation to administrators and instructional staff regarding district policies, practices, and procedures for literacy.
Provide individualized instruction to ensemble students to address specific areas of improvement.
Provides in-service activities to school district personnel in the collection of early literacy and literacy data.
Provides parents with techniques to assess and implement early literacy and literacy skills in the home environment.
Participates in staff development and other professional development.
Serves as a liaison to community agencies regarding literacy support and related services.
Supports the district system development to implement Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) for literacy.
Guides LEA problem solving and implementation planning through a data-based decision-making process designed to use capacity, fidelity, and student outcome data.
Consults, counsels, and collaborates with parents, school personnel, students, and appropriate community.
Coaches and directs training for teachers in planning, sequencing, and scaffolding of research-based literacy instruction.
Facilitates the integration of literacy skills/strategies/technology into the classroom.
Demonstrates the ability to present literacy as a process rather than a series of skills and encourage lifelong learning.
Observes and provides feedback to teachers regarding instruction (including content delivery and intervention strategies).
Model techniques for effective delivery of instruction in classrooms.
Consistently models Win-Win leadership.
Other Duties:
May serve as a resource person to local school district improvement teams related to the assigned area of responsibility.
Represents the district on various community agencies and professional organizations as appropriate to the assigned area.
