What are the responsibilities and job description for the Glass Blowing Technician position at Micro X-Ray Inc.?
Micro X-Ray is seeking a glass blowing technician to setup and operate a glass lathe and make glass envelopes for x-ray tubes. Highly desirable is the ability to make glass to metal seals, create T intersections, flanges, and be able to attach anode/cathode sub-assemblies without distortion of the surface. In addition, the successful candidate will be cross trained in various operations to support operations capacity.
Essential Job Functions include the following, but are not limited to:
- General glass blowing skills and knowledge of glass forming principles
- Create glass assemblies with T intersections, flanges, and seal areas
- Repairing glass components and assemblies
- Create glass to metal seals is a plus
- Operation of a glass lathe
- Schott glass and quartz experience a plus
- Partner with Design Engineers on NPI projects
Experience:
- Minimum 3 years of experience in making scientific glass envelopes or similar
Education:
- High School diploma or equivalent
Specialized Knowledge and Skills:
- Glass blowing
- Glass lathe
- Materials knowledge of glass
- MS Office
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in performing job duties
- Strong communication skills
- Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $24.00 - $30.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 – 45 per week
