Job Description: Microchip Technology Inc. is seeking a Health and Safety Technician to become a member of the Health and Safety Team. The candidate will provide support for both Arizona campuses (Chandler and Tempe). The Health and Safety Technician will work closely with the Safety, Environmental, and Facilities teams, and the Social and Governance team to advance Microchip’s Health, Safety, Environmental and Sustainability programs. Primary duties include supporting safety compliance programs, and Emergency Response Team (ERT) training support and environmental program assistance. This position may be modified based on the skills of the individual who fills it. Essential Functions: Directly support Tempe and Chandler operations as an EHS team member. Be an employee advocate for a safe/accident-free working environment. Perform calibration, preventive maintenance, and inspection of Health and Safety equipment. Assist in coordination and administration of training classes, such as new-hire orientation, ERT training, and site evacuation drills. Provide accurate and timely administrative support for various programs, including updating training records and maintaining compliance documentation. Manage Safety Data Sheet database and HAZCOM 2012 chemical safety label compliance. Assist in coordinating ERT physicals and respirator fit testing. Requirements/Qualifications: Associate degree with health & safety focus preferred, or Three to five years of experience working in health and safety programs. Understanding of OSHA, ANSI and NFPA 70 / 70E standards as they relate to safety programs is desirable. Knowledge of semiconductor manufacturing processes and related issues desirable. Proficient with MS Office suite. No sponsorship available for this position. This is a safety sensitive position, requires a drug test. Special Requirements: ERT participation required. Ability to wear personal protective clothing and various respirators as required. Weekend and night work required periodically for training and other activities.
