Tankerman
(MUST HAVE VALID USCG TANKERMAN LICENSE)
Schedule: 7 days on, 2 days off, 7 nights on, 5 days off
12 hour shifts
Scope:
Primary Functions and Duties
1. Tankerman must transfer diesel fuel, gasoline and oil products to vessels from fuel flats in a safe and efficient manner.
2. Tankerman must be familiar with the arrangement of cargo tanks, suction and discharge pipelines and valves, cargo pumps, cargo hoses, emergency shutdowns, and other barge equipment.
3. Operate vacuum systems on barges for pulling slop oil off customer's vessels.
4. Fill out required paperwork to include Declaration of Inspection, Declaration of Security, fuel tickets, delivery receipts and billing forms.
5. Start and maintain all engine and pumps.
6. Perform any other duties as directed by management.
Job Requirements
1. Must hold a valid US Coast Guard Tankerman Document.
2. Must be physically able to connect, disconnect and manipulate cargo hoses and valves.
3. Must be able to adjust mooring lines to suit river conditions.
4. Must be able to understand and follow all safety instructions included in MSDS and company directives.
5. Must be able to move drums of oil weighing over 400 pounds.
6. Must adhere to the provisions of the Certificate of Inspection (COI)
7. Be knowledgeable on the kinds and grades of liquid cargoes to be transferred and have a working knowledge of their characteristics and dangerous properties.
