MA/Scribe Float
About the Job: The MA/Scribe float is responsible for preparing patients to see providers, and facility test/paperwork as need as well as needed accompanying physician’s into the patient exam rooms in order to transcribe a history and physical exam, and document accurately the physician’s encounter with the patient and others present.
Roles and Responsibilities
MA Assistant
- MAs are responsible for collecting vitals, medical history, medication history, pharmacy history and pain scale upon rooming a patient.
- The MA will also assist with in-office procedures, such as but not limited to blood draws, suture/staple removals, cast removals, cast placing, dressing changes, UA collection, injections, and eye exams.
- The MA is responsible for making sure all proper information is collected and placed in the patient EMR.
- The MA will also assist with completion of patient forms such as: disability forms, restrictions, requisitions, post op, surgical, prescription refills and dispensing forms.
- Surgery scheduling and completion of orders. Ensures all tests and doctor clearances are completed prior to surgery and forwarded to the proper surgery center.
- Corresponds with case managers, employers, and insurance companies.
- The MA will also need to maintain a fully stocked and clean work environment.
- Assist with keeping up on inventory and proper medical supplies.
- All staff is required to follow the employee handbook and attendance policy.
Scribe
- Transcribing patient history and physical exam
- Accurately documenting physician’s encounter with patient
- Listing all proper diagnoses and symptoms, as well as follow-up instructions and prescriptions as dictated by the physician.
- Transcribe patient orders including laboratory tests, radiology tests, and medications.
- Document any procedures completed by the physician.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Ability to stand, walk or sit for prolonged periods of time.
- Able to hear average or normal conversations and receive ordinary information.
Set Yourself Apart: Skills and Qualifications
- High School Diploma
- CNA or Registered Medical Assistant Preferred
- One-year experience in an orthopedic or physical therapy setting preferred.
- 6 months experience as a scribe preferred.
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to work and multi-task in a fast-paced environment
- Team player, positive attitude, willingness to adapt to change.
