JOB TITLE: Transit Advertising Sales Manager
DEPARTMENT Communications / Marketing
REPORTS TO: Chief Administrative Officer
SALARY: 40K base & 10% commission on generated sales
JOB FUNCTION: The Transit Advertising Sales Manager is responsible for developing, managing, facilitating, and supporting all sales functions and project activities for the Memphis Area Transit Authority.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Creates and develops a pipeline for exciting new advertising opportunities for MATA customers that align with our overall strategic goals, objectives, mission, and values.
- Cultivates existing relationships and identifies and pursues new sales opportunities with businesses, schools, event organizers, and other potential transit advertisers.
- Learns best sales and advertising practices from other transit agencies.
- Builds and maintains strong relationships with existing and potential clients, providing exceptional customer service and support to ensure satisfaction and retention.
- Negotiates contract terms and pricing agreements with clients, ensuring profitability and adherence to organizational policies.
- Tracks and reports on sales performance metrics.
- Collaborates with cross-functional teams, including marketing, operations, and finance, to ensure alignment of sales efforts with organizational goals and objectives.
- Evaluate and refine sales processes and strategies to optimize performance and maximize results.
- Understands and executes policies and procedures established by senior management.
- Travels to meet with partners and potential partners across target regions as required for the role - the related budget must receive prior approval from MATA leadership.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
A bachelor’s degree in business administration, sales, marketing, or a related degree is required. However, an equivalent combination of work experience and education will be considered.
Other:
- Three (3) years of experience in sales, communication, marketing, advertising, or other related fields if there is a minimum of one (2) year of experience working directly.
- Must be proficient in using a personal computer, general office equipment, and Microsoft Office software, particularly Word and Excel, and can work in Trapeze.
- Should be able to write clearly and concisely and employ the appropriate terminology.
- Must be willing to comply with the company’s Drug and Alcohol Policy.
- Regular and consistent attendance is required.
- Must always comply with safety and COVID protocols.
Environment:
- The successful candidate must be able to fulfill the job's physical demands, such as walking, stooping, sitting, bending, reaching for overhead files, and occasional lifting (up to 20 pounds).
- Must be able to perform tasks involving manual dexterity, such as computer use.
- Should be able to view a computer screen for extended periods of time.
- Requires flexibility of fingers for data entry.
- Work will sometimes require more than 8 hours per day or an irregular work week to perform the essential duties of the position.
- Duties will be performed primarily in an office-type environment and may require outside duties in different weather environments.
- Must be able to travel to external locations and agencies.
- Extensive sitting is required while using office equipment such as computers, phones, printers, or fax machines.
- Some standing and walking during a normal workday will also be required as well as bending, stooping, kneeling, and crouching.
- Most work will be performed in inside working conditions but should be able to tolerate changes in building environments such as with or without air conditioning or heating.
- Repetitive motions will be required for data entry, picking items up or filing.
- Able to express or exchange ideas with others accurately and at an easily audible volume through.
