Job Description

The Business Intelligence Manager (BI) plays a pivotal role in steering the data strategy and architecture within our Information Technology department. This position entails the comprehensive management of data modeling, architecture creation, and information processing and delivery. The BI Manager will provide profound expertise in establishing and adhering to architectural standards in an enterprise data warehouse environment. Key responsibilities include leading efforts to diagnose and address issues affecting our customers, pinpointing root causes, and guiding the team toward strategic data solutions. This role requires a balance of technical proficiency and leadership skills to mentor and direct less experienced team members toward achieving departmental goals and maintaining high-quality data management practices. They fully support the mission, vision, values, and strategic goals of Midland Health. The BI Manager will manage the team of Data Coordinators, BI Developers, and Data Integration Engineers and is responsible for ensuring a high-quality, high high-performing team. Provides management of the team's work in alignment with governance and priorities for Midland Health’s priorities.

 

SHIFT AND SCHEDULE

Full Time: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS

  • Ability to manage across technical and non-technical teams to support Analytics Development Lifecycle Development (ADLC).
  • Ability to lead technical requirements discussions with technical and business teams and will adhere towards industry standards/best practices.
  • Establishes and maintains documentation standards and practices among the team. This includes business and technical requirements.
  • Leads the practice for establishing and maintaining data modeling standards and practices that support master data management, transactional data, and data product delivery. Will ensure the integrity of data across all platforms resulting in high levels of data confidence.
  • Is responsible for establishing and maintaining standards and practices related to engineering, API’s, Extract, Translate, and Loads. Managing vendors and their product or service offering according to agreements.
  • Responsible for effective team and leadership communication on the data and analytics program maturity, projects, and meetings.
  • Will establish and maintain effective scrum sessions and meetings to support the delivery and outcomes of the data and analytics program.
  • Monitors and reports compliance to SLA goals for analytics content delivery.
  • Manages the data and analytics project portfolio and ensures alignment with Midland Health System Leadership under the direction of the IT BI/Analytics Director.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree required in a quantitative-oriented field such as Business, Economics, Statistics, Biostatistics, Epidemiology, Information Technology, or Healthcare Administration.
  • 5 years of relevant career experience, with progressively responsible management experience in a healthcare matrix organization (preferred), medium to large physician practice a strong plus.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience as a programmer, analyst, or "super user."
  • Advanced proficiency in designing, installing, maintaining, and configuring reporting tools and integrating data from multiple application platforms.
  • Preferred experience with Snowflake, SQL servers, Oracle, or other Database tools.
  • Technical expertise in using Excel, Access, Crystal, Tableau, Microsoft Visual Basic, Java Scripting, and BI.

  • Stand, walk, sit, stoop, reach, lift, see, speak and hear. Lifting is limited to 35 lbs. for clinical staff and to 50 lbs. for non-clinical staff. The individual must use an assisted-lift device or get another individual(s) to assist with the lift that is over these maximum limits.
