The primary duties and responsibilities for the Communications Specialist – include but are not limited to the following:

Ensuring that transport requests are fulfilled in a timely manner (using either phone or computer).

Collaborates with dispatch staff and referring facility to accommodate and arrange all patient transfer services.

Providing supervisory support to all dispatchers under the direction of the dispatch manager

Seamlessly represents Midwest Medical with high quality customer service and communication.

Ability to build strong rapports with internal and external customers when management support is requested

Ability to demonstrate responsibility by receiving, assimilating, and recording information accurately into our system and respond appropriately.

Knowledge of geography and provider service area.

Interact professionally with other health care professionals.

Work as part of a team.

Operates computers, software, and multi-line phone system.

Baseline knowledge of 24/7 scheduling models in order to perform scheduling needs

Ensures the provision of optimal transportation services to patients and referring agencies.

Flexible as to his/her work schedule and able to work varying shifts, including Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays.

Minimum Education and/or Experience:

Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent.

Prior Dispatch, EMT, Paramedic or RN and supervisory experience preferred.

Knowledge of medical terminology.

Proficiency in spelling and writing English.

Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.
-
Ability to deal with high stress situations.
-
Working knowledge and proficiency of electronic communication.

Able to quickly manage and transition between various tasks while maintaining attention to detail.
