EMT - EMERGENCY MEDICAL TECHNICIAN
Reports to: Station Supervisor/Manager

Summary/Objective
Under general supervision, provides basic level emergency and non-emergency care to the ill and injured, to include assessment of illness and/or injury, management of such patients, preparation for transport, transfer of information, and patient care.
Required Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or GED
- Basic Life Support
- CPR & First Aid Certified
- Current state EMT Certification is required prior to start date
- Valid driver’s license
- National Registry EMT Certification
Essential Functions

- Provide basic life support treatment of patients
- Provide CPR, give oxygen, administer glucose; all with in the EMT scope of practice
- Safely operate and maintain an emergency vehicle while in compliance with all laws pertaining to the operation of an emergency vehicle while transporting patients
- Render competent patient care in both pre-hospital and inter-facility setting
- Thorough knowledge of EMS procedures and ability to integrate knowledge and performance into practical situations
- Interact professionally with other health care personnel
- Interact professionally with disabled, disadvantaged, sick and injured persons
- Work as part of a team
- Accurately and completely document information required in EMS charts, including PCRs, daily vehicle inspections, and daily inventory checks
- Assists other EMS providers with EMS care
- Give report verbally or in writing to higher healthcare facilities
- Clean the equipment, check and replace the used and damaged supplies
- Compliance with all company and local agency policies, procedures, and applicable protocols for emergency treatment and transportation
- Attend refresher programs and continuing education required by medical director
- Maintain a clean appearance, demonstrating courteous, professional and ethical behavior

Physical Demands
- Physically strenuous and can be emotionally stressful
- Bending, sitting, kneeling, moving and lifting patients and equipment
- Must be able to drive/ride in ambulance for long periods of times without issue
- Must possess physical agility necessary to lift and move patients safely
