Position Title: Housing Coach I, Bridging the Gap
Status: Full-time, non-exempt
Salary: $20.50/hour ($42,640.40/annualized)

Location: Primarily based of our Denver office at 711 Park Ave W, Denver, CO 80205, and frequently traveling to local offsite meetings. Ability to work remote 2 days/week, depending on time of year.

How You'll Help
The Bridging the Gap Housing Coach I performs a variety of office and community-based activities to implement the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Housing Choice Voucher Program (HCV), also known as "Section 8", assisting the Housing Project Manager and Housing Coach II position with voucher supports. This position is responsible for maintaining a small low needs case load of Foster Youth to Independence(FYI) and long term voucher holders.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support and assistance to all program voucher holders.
  • Act as a liaison between interested or participating landlords, rental agencies, complexes, management companies, etc. and the youth.
  • Perform Vulnerability Index- Service Prioritization Decision Assistance Tool (VI SPADT) assessments
  • Complete interim and annual recertification of participants, verifying income to determine and maintain eligibility with federal guidelines and regulations, conducting terminations when necessary
  • Perform housing inspections using HUD HQS guidelines ensuring HCV/Section 8 rental properties are in compliance with HUD Housing Quality Standards and provides a pass, pass with comment or fail rating for each unit
  • Manage small caseload of 15 long term low needs Nurse family partnership (NFP) vouchers, including housing needs and provide case management support to Denver Housing Authority (DHA) Adams Count voucher recipients, excluding housing supports
  • Build and establish relationships with participants (and their families) in the BTG Program
  • Facilitate the development of both formal and informal supports for each of their participants. The Housing Coach will engage young adults in program, services, and opportunities within the following domains: personal growth, workforce, physical and mental health, financial health, and social well-being and engagement
  • Maintains confidential client information
  • Utilize a trauma informed coaching model, the Housing Coach will support the participants as they develop a vision of what they want to achieve through the co-creation of a participant led service plan that supports the participants understanding and practice of behaviors and skills that can develop confidence, promote independence, and establish stability. The Housing coach will collaborate with and assist participants in learning the skills to advocate for themselves.
  • Maintain and update tenant information in databases in Elite and Salesforce.

What You'll Need: Education, Experience, and Skills

  • High School Diploma/GED required; Associates degree Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in human services; preferably housing or related field.
  • Experience with youth development and project management
  • Strong analytical as well as written and verbal communication skills.
  • Practical experience in relating effectively to people of all ranks, professions, ethnic and racial groups, and national origins.
  • General casework management principles and practices as they apply to low-income housing assistance programs; and socioeconomic problems and needs of low-income families and individuals
  • Use and knowledge of how to apply the regulations cited in the HQS manual, in relationship to each of the inspections each year.
  • Knowledge of Denver Metro Area, local community organizations, educational and training systems, public agencies, and private industry preferred.
  • Presentation ability and interpersonal skills, including excellent speaking and writing.
  • Working as part of a team; collaborating with colleagues.
  • Negotiating, exchanging ideas, information, and opinions with others to jointly formulate innovative policies, practice, programs, or solutions.
  • Highly developed organizational and time management skills

Working Environment: 60% of time in typical office environment,40% traveling to outside meetings and inspections.

Computer Skills: Proficient in working with Microsoft Office.

Physical Activities: Must have current CO driver's license, applicable insurance, and a safe driving record. Ability to lift 20lbs
