As a Cook at Milestone, Inc., you will have the opportunity to positively impact the lives of individuals in our Training Centers and Group Homes.
What You'll Do:
Prepare Nutritious Meals: Under the guidance of the Cook Supervisor, you will prepare sack lunches and special diets for the Milestone Training Center (MTC), Roc Vale, and Day Training programs. You will also prepare meals for Elmwood Heights (EH), Rocvale, and other group homes on assigned weekends.
Ensure Meal Accuracy: You will be responsible for labeling sack lunches with client names and specific dietary requirements, ensuring each meal meets the necessary standards.
Deliver with Care:Load and drive the food van to MTC, ensuring timely delivery of lunches by 10:35 AM. You will also communicate with MTC dining room helpers regarding meal specifics and deliver necessary supplies.
Maintain Standards: Regularly check food temperatures, adhere to dress code policies, and ensure all food items are properly stored and dated.
Weekend Meal Preparation: On assigned weekends, you will prepare lunch meals for all Elmwood Heights, Group Homes, and Rocvale as per the menu.
Assist and Adapt: Be ready to fill in during emergencies or when colleagues are on vacation. You will also help prepare foods for the following day's use at MTC and pull lunch supplies for CILA twice a week.
Sanitation and Safety: Maintain cleanliness of equipment, pots, pans, and kitchen areas. Ensure compliance with health, safety, and sanitation standards.
Additional Duties: Assist in serving lunch at MTC when needed, make trips to vendors, and perform other duties as required by the Supervisor or Food Services Director.
What We're Looking For:
Qualifications:
- High school graduate.
- Valid driver's license with a good driving record.
- Previous food service experience is preferred, but we are willing to train the right candidate.
- Must successfully complete the Department of Public Health Food Service Sanitation Manager Certification within the first 12 months of full-time employment.
- Ability to lift up to 35 lbs.; for anything over 35 lbs., assistance must be requested.

Dress Code:

- Must wear an apron, hat, or hairnet while on duty.
