JOB DESCRIPTION: CLASSROOM TEACHER
A classroom teacher is responsible for the general supervision and management of a group of 6 toddlers (18 months – 30 months) or 12 children (31 months - 5 years). Teachers are supervised by the director and responsible to supervise their aide.
QUALIFICATIONS
The following qualifications are required:
Education: Successful completion of 12 postsecondary units in early childhood development. Continuing education and professional growth courses related to the field are required.
Experience: This position requires one to two years of teaching experience in a qualified preschool classroom.

- Be a team player. Incorporate observational methods, assessment models, and other development materials to be used in the classroom.
- Most importantly, an employee should exhibit a love of learning; and the desire to share that love with the children in their care.
Responsibilities:
- Teachers are expected to plan, supervise, and implement age appropriate curriculum and activities for their class in accordance with the policies, goals, and philosophy of this program and in compliance with NAEYC standards.
- Compose a weekly lesson plan and post on the classroom parent board.
- Respect every child as an individual, promote multicultural and disparate socio-economic, physiological abilities awareness.
- Complete ongoing assessments of the children in your care.
- Children must be under direct supervision at all times.
- Maintain open communication with parents and attend conferences, and meetings as required.
- Keep your classroom organized, clean, and in good repair.
- May be required to change some diapers
- Attend all required staff meetings, special events, and professional development opportunities.
- Supervise and communicate with the assistant/co-teacher assigned to your class.
- Maintain child/client confidentiality.
- Know all procedures for fire, earthquake, and other natural disasters.
- Arrive on schedule to work, if unable to do so, notify the director to provide for any staffing needs.
- Know and implement all school and state policies, guidelines, and laws regarding communicable diseases, exclusion of sick children, child abuse reporting, and discipline.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $20.00 - $22.00 per hour
Expected hours: 20 – 40 per week
Schedule:
- 8 hour shift
- Monday to Friday
Education:
- High school or equivalent (Preferred)
Language:
- Spanish, Sign Language, or Mandarin (Preferred)
License/Certification:
- 12 Units of Early Childhood Education (Required)
