Position: Supervisor of Child Nutrition Program

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college with courses from one of the following areas: food, nutrition, or institutional management.
- Master’s Degree in food, nutrition or institutional management preferred.
- Registered Dietitian preferred.
- Three years professional experience in food, nutrition, or institutional management.
- School Nutrition experience preferred.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of audiences, including staff, students, school administration.
- Experience with use of technology and point of service software to improve performance and efficiency within the program.
Performance Responsibilities:
- Supervises all Cafeteria Management and Child Nutrition staff.
- Develops, implements and evaluates goals/objectives for the Child Nutrition Program.
- Establishes the organizational framework for achieving program goals and objectives.
- Directs, monitors, and evaluates the implementation of school nutrition programs within the school district or state in compliance with program standards of federal, state, and local regulations.
- Implements the appropriate use of information systems in the management of child nutrition programs.
- Plans for the development, coordination, and implementation of nutrition, sanitation, food and employee safety education as part of the school nutrition program.
- Oversees all financial, personnel, and payroll needs and functions.
- Establishes and implements budgeting and financial management systems consistent with local, state, and federal requirements.
- Maintains and submits accurate, timely, and well-documented records and reports.
- Establishes a comprehensive program for personnel management in cooperation with managers, administrators, and other appropriate personnel.
- Develops an effective system to include monitoring for quality food production and handling and service or with state personnel who provide technical assistance.
- Establishes a system for the procurement and distribution of food and non-food materials or with state personnel who provide technical assistance.
- Determines facility needs, repair and replacement of equipment.
- Plans facility layouts and determines equipment needs.
- Implements standards and controls for safety in food service facility design or with state personnel who provide technical assistance.
- Establishes and maintains a school nutrition program marketing system for the district.
- Establishes effective working relationships with appropriate members of all departments in the school district or state agency as provided, as well as other stakeholders such as students, parents, and community members.
- Implements a program for continuous self-development and professional growth.
- Supervises district functions where food service is provided; this includes evening and weekends when applicable.
- Monitors 24-hour temperature monitoring system and is available on call to respond when temperature alerts occur.
- Informs vendors, reschedules deliveries for school emergency closures.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Terms of Employment: Twelve-month employee.
Salary and Benefits: Salary range and benefits are commensurate with qualifications and experience in accordance with Board of Education Policy.
Evaluation: Performance will be evaluated annually in accordance with the Board’s policy on evaluation of professional personnel.
