General Summary
As the Operations and Maintenance (O&M) Technician at Millennium Power, you will be tasked with continuously monitoring the status of all plant systems, promptly responding to alarms by taking corrective actions, executing plant shut-down and start-up procedures as needed, and ensuring that the plant operates safely and efficiently while meeting its generating requirements.
The O&M Technician will also be responsible for maintaining and repairing all instruments, control systems, and mechanical/electrical equipment within the facility. This role involves high-skilled work, including inspection, repair, testing, adjustment, installation, and removal of various power plant equipment and systems.
Primary Functions
- Report upset conditions or other anomalies in plant status to the Lead O&M Technician
- Conducts routine tours of the plant to inspect equipment, provides feedback to the Lead O&M Technician, and to other employees as directed
- Comply with all site safety and environmental requirements and procedures. Identify safety and environmental hazards and takes corrective actions as necessary.
- Maintains accuracy of shift operating logs, records, time sheets, work orders and other administrative documents related to the power plant
- Performs in all plant switching and tagging of equipment in accordance with approved procedures and prudent operations and maintenance practices
- Performs preventive maintenance duties on all major equipment and systems
- Participates in the administrative maintenance of the plant operating manuals, technical references, prints and diagrams and preventive/predictive maintenance records
- Performs and maintains housekeeping standards and duties
- Performs routine preventive and predictive maintenance on all systems and equipment; support corrective maintenance efforts on selected equipment
- Performs other duties necessary to fulfill plant requirements
- Assist other team members and work with all departments to support Facility in achieving their goals
- Complete other tasks as requested by O&M Management

Working Relationships
The O&M Technician receives work direction from the on-shift Lead O&M Technician and reports to the Operations Supervisor. The O&M Technician may also give direction to maintenance personnel on matters pertaining to plant operations.
Physical Requirements and Working Relationships
Physical requirements include standing on feet for extended periods of time, stair and ladder climbing and routinely lifting up to 50 pounds. Protective equipment must be worn in the performance of some duties (e.g. hard hats, safety glasses, air masks, ear protection, chemical suits, hot gloves and high voltage protective equipment, etc.). Work with hazardous materials may be required.
All employees will participate in the Fitness for Duty Program. This program includes a post-offer physical examination and drug screening and post-employment random drug screening. There are extensive smoking restrictions in and around the facility.
Work Schedule
This O&M Technician will work a swing shift DuPont schedule. Additional schedule requirements include extended working hours and varied shifts with the possibility of weekend and holiday work, as required by schedules, work load and plant conditions. "On call" status will periodically be required.
Compensation
Initial compensation will range from $42.10 to $47.89 per hour
Job Qualifications
- Must possess a Massachusetts 2nd Class Fireman license at a minimum.
- Must obtain and maintain a Massachusetts Hoisting Operator license for HE-1C Telescoping booms & forklifts and HE-3A Electric and pneumatic hoisting equipment within 12 months
- Ability to understand procedures and instructions specific to the area of assignment as would be acquired in four years of high school; Associate Degree in a technical field desirable
- Minimum two years’ experience as an O&M Technician or equivalent position in an operating or generating plant required
- Theoretical and practical knowledge of combustion/steam turbine operations, closed system steam generation, industrial safety, hazardous waste management and inspection/recording of plant parameters is highly desirable
- Experience with piping and instrument schematics and process controls desirable
- Extensive working knowledge of power plant industry is desirable
- Experience in water chemistry control, analysis of water conditions, water treatment facility operations and chemical handling requirements
- Ability to use basic hand tools, portable electric and pneumatic tools, and basic rigging equipment such as winches, hoists and slings
- Ability to locate, troubleshoot and adjust defects in mechanical equipment, including piping and valve installation and maintenance
- Must have a valid Driver License
