Outside Sales Reps are responsible for increasing sales by developing and maintaining relationships with customers. As an Outside Sales Representative professional, you are responsible for generating revenue by building relations with clients, identifying new business opportunities, and closing deals. This position will be responsible for growing a paint sales territory. You will utilize professional selling tools for pre-call planning and documenting sales calls. You'll develop a territory market strategy, as well as conduct product demonstrations and competitive product comparisons.
Develops new and existing customers on a consistent ongoing basis, meeting targeted goals and margins, to continually grow total MPC sales in the assigned area of responsibility while maximizing MPC profits.

We are looking for someone with a minimum of 3 years’ sales experience in paint/coatings, construction, or home improvement industry.
- Develop a strategy to grow sales and profits to key, opportunity, new and existing customers.

- Help determine pricing schedules for quotes, promotions, and negotiations.
- Conduct product demos to support the selling process and coordinate sales efforts with marketing programs.
- Prepare and submit sales contracts for orders.
- Visit clients and potential clients to evaluate needs or promote products and services.
- Maintain client records
- Answer client questions about terms, products, prices, and availability.
- Achieve or exceed sales budget.
- Achieve or exceed margin contribution budget.
- Develop a strategy to sell target customers and identify items or product categories that require specific attention to support this strategy.
- Develop weekly selling plan and conduct sales calls accordingly, occasionally in conjunction with servicing Store/Facility Manager.
- Obtain information necessary to open a new account and communicate to the credit department.
- Access product/technical information to support customers’ application requirements.
- Complete required call and expense reports on a timely basis.
- Identify sources of sales leads and follow through on leads provided by store/Facility personnel as appropriate.
- Identify products and quantities that must be carried in inventory to support customer needs and communicate this to the store/Facility.
- Identify potential problems and work with the Store/Facility Manager to resolve them.
- Handle customer complaints within lines of authority and manage process to resolution.
- Provides territory sales forecasts, prepares weekly and monthly reports as required, and maintains detailed sales activities, which include calls, orders, sales, lost business, and any other customer or vendor relationship problems.
- Assists the Credit Department in the Collection of Receivables
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned by your manager. These duties are required to be within your capabilities and are intended to support the success of the Miller Paint company associated with Safety, Quality, Cost, and Delivery and/or Cultural performance.
Minimum Requirements:
- Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age
- 3 years proven experience with both paint direct sales background preferred.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the country of employment without needing sponsorship for employment work visa status now or in the future
- Valid driver’s license for state of residency and driving record permitting coverage under corporate policy ability to travel within Oregon and Washington in a timely manner. If driving a personal vehicle, must provide proof of personal auto liability insurance
- Proficient with Microsoft Office, CRM experience a plus.
- Excellent sales and negotiation skills.
