What are the responsibilities and job description for the DIRECTOR OF PHARMACY-FULL TIME position at Millinocket Regional Hospital?
Millinocket Regional Hospital has an immediate opening for a full time Director of Pharmacy in our Pharmacy Department.
Qualifications: Must be a graduate of an accredited school of pharmacy and must be a Maine licensed pharmacist. Supervisory and/or management experience desirable. A minimum of two years of experience as a hospital pharmacist preferred. Effective interpersonal and communication skills necessary as this job requires the ability to work well with all members of the healthcare team as well as with patients and members of the community.
Specialized Knowledge: Pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, drug literature review, therapeutics, computer applications, aseptic technique, 340b. Must complete 15 hours per year of continuing education to remain licensed.
Main Function: Manages the Pharmacy Department; establishes policies, procedures, standards and objectives for the provision of services; evaluates performance and maintains quality assurance; manages 340b and antibiotic stewardship programs; responsible for compounding and dispensing medication; manage the hospital’s formulary; manage the Pharmacy Item Master, including NDC numbers; manages recalls related to the hospital pharmacy; updates IV Pump Library as needed; provide education to providers and staff on new medications; manage the pharmacy auto substitution policy-updates as needed; responsible for mixing chemotherapy agents; coordinates with other departments to provide maximum level of services to patients and hospital staff.
GENERAL INFORMATION: Full Time Position, Monday-Friday, 8:00 am to 4:00 pm.
