Essential Duties & Responsibilities
The Materials Supervisor will oversee the planning, procurement, storage, control, and distribution of materials and products according to facility’s needs, internal company policies and customer requirements.
- Oversee daily flow of materials through facility, leading the Shipping & Receiving Coordinator, Production Scheduler, Buyer / Planner and Material Handlers.
- Responsible for maintaining accurate inventory levels according to Annual Operating Plan and Forecast.
- Manage Cycle Count process ensuring compliance to established schedule, that all variances are investigated to determine root cause and that effective corrective action is taken to eliminate future variances.
- Along with Controller responsible for planning and executing Annual Physical Inventory process, ensuring absolute variance is less than 2%.
- Develop and implement materials handling procedures to ensure safe, accurate movement of material through the facility.
- Coordinate, consolidate and publish daily/weekly/monthly/YTD metrics specified by the Plant Manager and scorecard process.
- Serve as primary plant liaison on material matters to Corporate Supply Chain, other Milsco sites and Supply partners.
- Recommend system/process improvement projects to Plant Manager.
- Authorize premium/expedited freight expense in absence of the Plant Manager
- Investigate, correct, and eliminate at the root cause any manufacturing component shortages (both internal and external).
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor degree and 3 – 5 years of related experience or associate degree and 5 – 8 years of related experience or greater than 8 years of experience in lieu of a degree.
- Advanced skills with ERP and Excel Software packages.
- Experience with Level Loading, Fixed Sequence, Kanban System development and implementation, or other Lean material practices strongly preferred.
- Enthusiastic, self-starter with an attention to detail, service minded and able to manage multiple priorities.
