The Opportunity
As a Manager, Engineering, this person will play a key role in Mindful Care’s growth and success by leading a team of developers who build solutions that drive value for internal teams as well as patients. They will be a leader who embraces and promotes a modern workplace that allows people to perform their roles effectively and securely from anywhere, anytime and on anything.
The Manager, Engineering, will possess strong technical knowledge but will be equally focused on leadership to drive continuous improvement and deployment of technology enabled solutions. They will have the ability to be hands on with and support new feature development at scale across the company. This person will also be leading and directly contributing to the team working to redefine how we build, test, release and run software.
This person will ‘lead-by-example’ and must be willing to roll up their sleeves, provide their SME expertise, provide coaching and delegate responsibilities among teams and staff. Most of all, they will be excited by the opportunity to build patient-facing solutions and internal operational tools that will change the way that people receive mental healthcare in this country.
The Position
The primary responsibilities of the positions are listed below:
- Direct the work of developers to ensure best practices around software development are followed and company and departmental goals are met.
- Shape key decisions about architecture and implementation of scalable and cost-effective engineering.
- Set and participate in code review processes.
- Lead a development team to build and deploy new features and solutions for internal and external clients.
- Oversee junior developers, provide technical direction and evaluate performance to ensure the smooth deployment of new features.
- Foster collaboration with team members to drive consistency across the team, and act as a technical escalation point for the developers on the team.
- Prepare technical proposals and reports.
The primary objectives of the role are listed below:
- Define and document development methodology.
- Ensure the documentation of systems architecture and design; documentation of development processes and procedures is completed.
- Improve engineering quality and efficiency (including, but not limited to improvement of dev process, workflow, code review, QA process, etc.).
- Increase the development team’s productivity rate by establishing clear expectations and protocols for team, while fostering an environment of trust, collaboration, and transparency.
- Assess resource needs and hire candidates that strengthen the company and team.
Candidate Profile
- 4 years of experience in a lead or manager position.
- Experience working with compliance and regulatory requirements (e.g. HIPAA, SOC 2).
- Experience leading a team composed of onsite, remote and offshore software engineers.
- Demonstrated success in setting technical direction and architecture.
- People management skills, proven track record of mentoring and coaching team members.
- Demonstrated success in developing software, writing and testing code via modern programming languages and deploy cloud-native solutions.
- Experience with the following programing language and cloud-native solutions:
- Languages (Elixir, Python, MYSQL),
- Cloud Native Solutions/Tools: AWS, Terraform, ECS, Docker, ELK stack, CI/CD (CircleCi & GitHub Actions)
- Location: Must be in EST time zone and able to travel to West Hempstead, NY office on occasion.
Compensation
The base salary range for this position is $140,000 - $150,000K. In addition to a base salary, this position is eligible for a performance bonus, equity, and benefits (subject to eligibility requirements) listed here: medical, dental, vision, 401(k), FTO, and company holidays to name a few. Total compensation is based on several factors including, but not limited to, type of position, location, education level, work experience, and certifications.
