Mindful Works is an employment social enterprise that empowers individuals in recovery from mental health challenges by facilitating meaningful job training and work experience. We aim to help our program participants transition to positions in the traditional labor market or continue their education.
The Bakery Coach supervises and teaches our team of Apprentices how to make dog treats, scones, cookies, and more. Experiment with new recipes and help decide our culinary offerings! This position demands creativity daily, excellent communication and organization skills, and the ability to wear multiple hats.
The other half of our operation includes a soft goods design and sewing Shoppe where we make home décor and wellness products. We have expanded to the Kitchen and we need you to make it a success! Research, marketing, sales, staffing, regulations, and packaging responsibilities are part of the position.
This is a part-time job that does not include benefits.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Supervising baked goods and dog treat preparation in the kitchen.
- Training of apprentices in culinary skills and associated learning opportunities.
- Creation of packaging and labels for products.
- Ensuring compliance with all regulatory agencies.
- Shopping for ingredients and maintaining inventory levels.
- Completing food handlers’ permits, cottage business, and food preparation classes with certificates. Manage apprentice training.
- Working with Executive Directors & Operations Manager to develop sales channels and sites. Outreach and cold-calling are necessary.
- Willingness to work markets (weekends) and other sales events.

- Previous experience in the food industry is preferred
- Knowledge of food safety practices and procedures
- Ability to handle knives and other kitchen tools safely
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow recipes accurately
- Excellent time management skills to ensure timely meal preparation
- Ability to work well in a team environment
- Flexibility to assist with various tasks as needed
