This purpose of this position is to coordinate the Minnesota State Energy Center of Excellence operations and activities including supervision of staff, consultation services, economic development functions and the development of programs and resources in support of the Energy Industry. This position will provide leadership in the Minnesota Energy Consortium, direct development, and coordinate a variety of interrelated energy industry research activities. This position will also supervise and provide leadership to the Center staff and Energy Education faculty; plan, initiate, direct, manage and evaluate educational programming and curriculum processes.

Job Description
Leadership and Planning
- Plan, organize and direct the operations of the Energy Center.
- Identify academic related opportunities and collaborate with related academic programs across Minnesota State institutions and partner K-12 districts.
- Seek, initiate, write, secure, manage, coordinate and report contracts/grants and special projects for Energy Center.
- Present information and data regarding the Energy Center as requested at seminars, field days, and educational and civic events.
- Plan and facilitate Fall and Spring leadership meetings of the Minnesota State Energy Consortium.
- Meet and collaborate with system office with other potential partnerships with industry/guide state changes in curriculum delivery
- Lead statewide initiatives for Energy education across Minnesota State campuses
Budget Management
- Monitor and authorize expenditures in compliance with Minnesota State and Minnesota West CTC policies and procedures.
- Develop and prepare annual Energy Center budget
Promotion, Public Relations and Planning
- Represent the Energy Center and Minnesota West CTC at various meetings, associated industry groups, and state and national related organizations.
- Participate in professional and business organizations and educational updates.
- Develop and oversee compilation of the annual Energy Center report.
- Develop and oversee the Energy Center work plan and evaluation.
- Enhance and expand relationships with on-going programs at Minnesota West CTC
- Enhance and expand relationships with University of Minnesota programs, Minnesota Department of Commerce, the Energy industry, other colleges and related agencies.
- Develop and expand student programming and teaching opportunities relating to Energy.
- Oversee updates to the Minnesota State Energy Center of Excellence website and related social media.
- Collaborate with marketing and public relations to identify periodic press releases and to promote events and workshops.
Organizational Leadership
- Lead and facilitate Energy Center Steering Committee via bi-monthly meetings
- Build Energy career pathways in collaboration with area principals and instructors for students through collaborative models
- Interpret and enforce program standards and faculty professional development.
- Work with other higher educational institutions on instructional programming.
- Assist in the development and implementation of policies and procedures.
- Plan, direct and implement innovative curriculum and technology.
Supervision and Management
- Supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned staff.
- Participate in the recruitment and selection process and make hire recommendations to the College Provost.
- Prepare position descriptions and provide orientation to employees.
- Ensure the proper application of collective bargaining agreement/union contract provisions.
- Approve leave, time sheets and conduct performance evaluations of staff personnel.
- Administer discipline including oral/written reprimands, suspension and discharge.
- Research, analyze and identify partnership opportunities for regional and local economic development; establish and maintain partnerships with regional clients, forecast industry and workforce needs.
Other:
- Perform other administrative tasks as directed
- Maintain productive relationships with faculty, staff, other education entities, the community, legislators and other state agencies
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from a four-year accredited institution
- Must possess:
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Supervisory experience
- Budgetary and management skills
- Excellent computer skills,
- Educational philosophy that aligns with Minnesota State and Minnesota West Community and Technical College’s strategic goals.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree from a four-year accredited institution
- College level teaching experience at least five years
- Experience writing and managing grants
- Experience working in a collaborative setting
- Entrepreneurial skills
- Knowledge of production in the energy industry
