POSITION SUMMARY :
The Elder Protective Services Worker evaluates allegations of abuse or neglect, performs protective interventions, recommends protective program placements, and provides casework services for elderly clients facing abuse, substance abuse including alcohol and other drugs, neglect by a caretaker, financial exploitation, or self-neglect.
Please note : Due to the need for occasional quick response, we require our Protective Service Workers to live within 45 minutes from our service area.
$1500 sign-on bonus
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :
- Receive and assess reports of abuse, neglect or financial exploitation in a timely manner as defined under the regulations governing the protective services program.
- Conduct field visits to assess needs and provide case work services to client population.
- Work closely with community agencies and organizations including first responders, community safety personnel and medical professionals to identify needs, locate resources, and set up service network to meet needs.
- Maintain case records; collect information for program monitoring and evaluation.
QUALIFIED APPLICANTS WILL HAVE
- A Master’s Degree in Social Work, Criminal Justice, Psychology, or related field and 1 year of crisis intervention experience.
- Significant related experience or skill could be considered for candidates without a Bachelors Degree ( LPN, past work with population)
- Experience with older adults and / or people with disabilities
- Ability to independently, organize work, take initiative, and meet timeframes
- In-crisis intervention experience including knowledge of housing, mental health and substance abuse helpful
- Experience working in victim / witness advocacy, substance abuse, child protective services, District Attorney's office, domestic violence shelter, abuse investigation, group home or other related position is helpful
- Knowledge of and sensitivity to issues related to the aging process or past work for an ASAP also helpful
