What you’ll be doing as a Systems Administrator:
Assists in managing enterprise servers and their associated operating systems and software including:
Operating system patching.
System issue investigation/diagnosis/resolution.
Application issue investigation/diagnosis/resolution.
System documentation.
Disaster recovery support where applicable.
On call support for these systems, available for on call support 24x7.
System monitoring.
Assists in email administration. MS Exchange, antivirus, anti-spam, content compliance:
Resolves problems, provides support and identifies requirements and configuration requirements for client groups and remote locations.
Monitors, maintains, supports and upgrades applications as well as resolve tier 2 trouble tickets as related to messaging.
Supports applications including Symantec Security for SMTP Gateways, and manage anti-virus and spam filtering products.
Works with network security and monitoring to ensure service/system security.
Performs System Backup:
Designs and maintains backup solutions.
Creates support documentation.
Reviews backups daily to ensure proper operation.
Restores data as needed.
Regularly tests and documents backups for audit and DR testing.
Who’s qualified to be a Systems Administrator?
Education: Bachelors degree in Information Systems or Information Technologies required. Current industry certifications, i.e. Microsoft, VMware, SAN or CCIP are preferred. Two years of equivalent experience may substitute for every one-year of education.
Experience: A minimum of 3 years’ equivalent work experience in a technical position using most of the software and hardware technologies outlined below in the Competencies Section is required. A current driver's license in good standing is a requirement of the position. Must be able to work a schedule involving availability for some after-hours and weekend work as needed.
Software:
Knowledge of Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, WINS, AD-Certificate Services, LDAP, MS Exchange, SharePoint Services, Live Communication, SQL, VMware Technologies, and Smart Phone Technologies
Experience in design and implementation of multi-domain and/or multi-forest AD in a corporate environment.
PBX administration.
Telco review and resolution.
Linux administration.
Established strategic and critical analysis skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office suite.
Advanced knowledge of: MS Windows Server, DHCP, DNS, and Active Directory Services (security, account provisioning, group policy scripting and administration), Outlook & Exchange, VMware ESX, Mac OS, Linux
Basic understanding of SQL Server and IIS.
Understand load balancing, clustering, and caching procedures and processes.
Experience installing, configuring, and maintaining all manners of server hardware and associated network equipment, including SCSI, RAID, and I/O topology.
Experience with server performance tuning and monitoring tools.
Familiarity with TCP/IP and other network protocols, and operating system configuration.
Experience with storage technologies such as SAN or NAS.
