HUMAN RESOURCES (HR) MANAGER, Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (CSAIL), to manage comprehensive HR services in the areas of recruitment, onboarding, employee and labor relations, compensation, employee development and training, rewards and recognition, strategic planning, and student/affiliate/visitor appointments. Will work with the administrative officer to develop strategic HR plans and implement policies/processes; collaborate with MIT’s central HR and the Dean’s Office; directly supervise CSAIL’s HR team; provide guidance with regard to MIT, state, and federal HR policies/procedures/practices; and complete hands-on work in a team-based environment.

Job Requirements
REQUIRED: bachelor’s degree in HR or related field; five years’ direct HR (preferably generalist) experience; solid knowledge of HR functional areas noted above; supervisory experience; in-depth knowledge of federal and state employment laws and current HR practices; experience applying HR policies/regulations/employment law and ability to learn changes quickly; strong employee-relations skills and ability to respond effectively to a variety of constituencies; excellent organizational, analytical, active-listening, customer service, interpersonal, and written and verbal communication skills; project/process management skills; self-motivation and ability to work independently; sound judgment and discretion with confidential/sensitive information; and proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and the internet. Must be able to prioritize tasks, handle and complete competing work assignments, and meet deadlines with attention to detail/quality; anticipate and solve problems and see issues from a variety of perspectives; lead and collaborate within a team; and serve as a “go-to” HR resource. PREFERRED: knowledge of and experience with applicant tracking and performance management systems; ability to analyze and improve/create processes and procedures; MIT experience; advanced degree or S/PHR certification; and experience using databases, SAP, and Cognos.
