Mittera Houston is looking to add Bindery Helpers to their team. This position performs manual or small machine operator tasks related to the binding/finishing operations in the full-service Bindery Department. Follows departmental regulations and procedures to process customer jobs through the Department on a timely basis and within specified quality standards.
Requirements:
· High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) and/or previous bindery experience
· Ability to read and interpret documents; write employee communication pieces and routine business correspondence
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole number, common fractions and decimals
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situation where only limited standardization exists
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
- Ability to remain calm in stressful situations
- Ability to prevent errors and solve problems on binding machine operations
Duties Include:
- Reads and understands the job ticket with the Machine Operator
- Assists in cutting, folding, collating, stitching, and trimming of printed products
- Catches, removes and/or cartons completed printed pieces at the delivery end of binding/folding/cutting equipment or other finishing equipment
- Loads stitcher/trimmer pockets and conveyor belts or feeders for folders
- Performs other functions such as skid packing or loading, making boxes or cartons, labeling finished product, plastic wrapping skids, moving stock and material and setting up and/or moving conveyors
- Operates a power pallet jack and hand lift truck
- Cleans up and keeps work area neat and orderly
- Does hand collating and other manual tasks in binding/finishing
- Gathers empty skids around machine prior to the beginning of the binding/finishing run.
