Job Summary:
The primary role of a General Manager is to supervise all activities of the warehouse, which involves overseeing team performance, ensuring safe and efficient operations, and cultivating a strong company culture. As the most senior individual in the warehouse day-to-day operations, you will be expected to lead by example and create organization and structure, even when it does not initially exist. A successful General Manager will help drive the overall growth of Pitted Logistics and provide a truly exceptional customer experiencetwo of the main goals of our organization.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Ensure the warehouse operates at peak efficiency, with customer satisfaction being the primary goal, by supervising, organizing, directing, and training warehouse employees and establishing, monitoring, and managing operation goals
- Develop warehouse operations systems by determining product handling and storage requirements, equipment utilization, inventory management, and shipping
- Train and manage the warehouse team to solve day-to-day operational issues and reach short- and long-term performance goals
- Oversee daily operations, while controlling and managing production schedules and shipping demands
- Review and prepare workflow, manning and space requirements, equipment layout, and action plans while ensuring productivity, quality, and customer service standards are met
- Maintain a safe, healthy, and enjoyable work environment by establishing, following, and enforcing standards and procedures and complying with legal regulations
- Supervise daily activities of the warehouse, including quality assurance, inventory control, space management, logistics, floor productivity, shipping, and customer service
- Schedule and oversee warehouse teams to meet the demands of the fulfillment center, and manage the flow and quality of work to maximize efficiency and minimize overtime
- Oversee vendor relationships to ensure competitive pricing on supplies and to maintain required stock levels on consumable materials
- Inspect equipment, tools, and machinery regularly, and oversee general maintenance as needed
- Oversee and manage carriers utilized to transport products to customers, communicating with drivers and air partners to ensure efficient pickup and delivery of shipments to and from the warehouse
- Meet regularly with warehouse leads to review, analyze, and develop actionable plans for productivity
- Meet regularly with CEO to review warehouse objectives and performance metrics, growth opportunities, areas of weakness and improvement, and develop actionable plans for these items
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Advanced degree in engineering or logistics
- 5 years experience in a warehouse manager role managing hourly employees
- Excellent knowledge of warehouse procedure and policy
- Excellent problem-solving skills and leadership qualities
- Ability to work with all levels of company staff
- Comfortable delivering frequent direct written and oral feedback
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
- Proficiency with 3PL Central for warehouse management
- Bilingual (English, Spanish)
