Benefit Coordinator Responsibilities
- Acts as central contact/customer service point for all employees with benefit related questions; providing excellent customer service throughout the benefit enrollment experience.
- Administer employee benefits programs such as retirement plans: medical, dental, vision plans; life insurance plans; and temporary disability programs.
- Act as a point of contact for 401 (k) program questions with high level understanding of eligibility requirements.
- Maintain employee benefit files and related payroll records.
- Ensures ACA compliance requirements are being met and maintained.
- Implement approved new plans or changes to existing plans by preparing announcement materials, plan summary documents and other media for communicating plans to employees
- Prepare and execute benefit documentation, such as original and amended plan texts, benefit agreements and insurance policies.
- Instruct insurance carriers, trustees, and other administrative agencies outside the company to effect changes in benefits program. Ensure prompt and accurate compliance.
- Assure company compliance with provisions of Employee Retirement Income Security Act and the ACA. Supervise preparation of reports and applications required by law to be filed with federal and state agencies, such as Internal Revenue Service, Department of Labor, insurance commissioners, and other regulatory agencies. Review and analyze changes to state and federal laws pertaining to benefits and report necessary or suggested changes to management.
- Supervise maintenance of enrollment and claims records for all compensation and benefits plans, including annual open enrollment.
- Act as initial point of contact for Unemployment Responses and actively participate in unemployment hearings.
- Serve as a point of initial contact for FMLA and LOA administration.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or a related field OR equivalent experience
- Minimum of three (3) to five (5) years’ experience in benefits administration, leave administration and unemployment.
- Specific knowledge of the principles and practices of personnel compensation and benefits administration and management.
- Knowledge of ACA requirements and programs.
- Knowledge of Workers Compensation including multi-state understanding.
- Knowledge of 401 (k) plan administration.
- Knowledge of state Unemployment process.
- $50-65k dependent on experience
