What are the responsibilities and job description for the Inventory Analyst position at Mogas Industries?

MOGAS Industries, Inc., the leading manufacturer of severe service ball valves for extreme industrial applications is seeking a qualified Inventory Analyst for our North Houston location. 

 

The position will be responsible for developing and maintaining best-practice inventory processes to utilize new and existing inventory most effectively and control the intake of new inventory investments. They will also manage and monitor inventory levels to control aging and obsolete inventory and drive reduction of excess inventory. Develop KPIs to support. Provide support and share other critical tasks within the Planning team as it relates to inventory control and consumption. 

 

Required Education and Experience: 

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • 3 plus years inventory management experience in discrete manufacturing environment.
  • At least one (1) year of business analyst experience.
  • Knowledge of material specifications and grades.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment strongly preferred and an understanding of BOM structure and material consumption processes.   
  • Can navigate and utilize ERP systems, specifically manufacturing modules.

Responsibilities and Essential Requirements:

  • Collaborate cross functionally to influence the development and implementation of procedures and processes designed to innovate and improve the overall effectiveness of inventory control and inventory management. 
  • Lead cross-functional effort to analyze and understand existing inventory and create different strategies to utilize and manage inventory, such as fire sales, scrap, etc.  
  • Analyze inventory consumption, identify trends and opportunities for optimization that will improve service levels and/or reduce carrying costs. Including, but limited to, setup and management of a Safety Stock program.
  • Review of required materials and potential displacement of new orders with existing surplus or overstocked inventory.
  • Monitor the inventory management system to find the root cause of problems and identify appropriate solutions.
  • Develop, publish and maintain critical KPIs to support business objectives and communicate inventory position to senior leadership, product line owners, and other key stakeholders.
  • Support and share Master Scheduling and Product Planner’s responsibilities in utilizing existing inventory, executing Engineering Change Order (ECNs) timely to minimize excess purchases, and tagging pre-ordering raw material POs to parent demands to avoid duplicate purchases when Engineering designs are released. 
  • Other duties as assigned by manager.

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong understanding of fundamental business processes, risks, inventory controls, and accounting requirements preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Ability to analyze data in a business environment.
  • High attention to detail and good organization skills.
  • Customer service focused while possessing superb customer service skills. Must be able to work independently with little supervision.
  • Able to function within a team environment.
