What are the responsibilities and job description for the Operator position at Mohawk Industries, Inc.?
Primary Objective: Apply knowledge of the Extrusion Line and Material Handler III to produce first-quality yarn packages in accordance with Mohawk procedures and plant SOP's
Description:
- Perform extrusion operator duties, rotating between packing out yarn and threading positions.
- Work Safely, Obeying all Plant Rules & Procedures
- Maintain a clean and orderly workplace for your assigned areas.
- Operate control panel on assigned machine to keep machine running.
- Catch ends from Spin Operators and place in aspirator.
- Using handheld aspirator to string up position in safe manner.
- Monitor line for correct thread path and string up.
- Keep track of breakouts and no-tails using assigned log, if needed.
- Use burns off gun to remove yarn wraps from godets.
- Dispose of all waste in proper container.
- Use whalebone to move filaments into correct position on faceplate.
- Use scissors to cut yarn threading into aspirator or cut tail length.
- Provide support to other line operators as directed by the Crew Leader.
- Label yarn packages with correct lot number and position, as needed.
- Mark packages if necessary.
- Place Yarn Tubes into Extrusion Winder cylinders as needed.
- Pack out yarn packages on assigned buggy and follow SOP for this pack out.
- Use package gauge to regularly ensure packages are correct size, as needed.
- Inspect case builds at every layer to ensure quality standards are met, as needed.
- Push buggy to stretch wrap after full case build and return to line area.
- Load Lab buggy as assigned on buggy correctly.
- Keep all yarn waste in proper containers.
- Perform regular cleaning of line.
- Sweep Floors and Mop.
- Keep cardboard trays and dividers ready for buggy build.
- Checks material for defects before packing out to ensure high-quality products are delivered to internal departments and /or customers.
- Collects finished product and pre-packs it at a warp/staging station.
- Single lines utilize carts/buggies to transport material to a stretch wrap station.
- Manually loads packaged material onto cardboard trays and secures the material or products for transport to designated areas.
- Pulls and stages materials as required to meet production demands
- Place proper labeling on packaged cases
- Manually label and load cones into magazines to keep the doff process fluid and uninterrupted
- Other duties as directed by management
Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Must be able to pass a color-vision screening
- Must be willing and able to work night shift (12 hours)
- Must be able to follow all manufacturing, safety rules and regulations
- Follow all rules and regulations as described in company policy including attendance policy
- Must be able to work in extreme temperatures, in an uncontrolled climate.
- Ability to work in a physically challenging and repetitive environment.
