What are the responsibilities and job description for the Special Education Program Coordinator position at Mokena School District 159?
Primary Objective:
- Assists the Director of Student Services in the supervision of special education programs and services; assists with the development, implementation, and evaluation of special education curriculum, interventions, and assessment data.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Appropriately licensed/certified by the Illinois State Board of Education
- Completion of a Bachelor’s Degree program at an accredited college or university.
- Knowledge of autism programming, assistive technology, and curriculum.

Essential Job Functions:
Program Coordinator
- Assist Director with the development and implementation of autism programming
- Research, implement, and evaluate program assessment tools, curriculum, and instructional strategies
- Supervise, train and support program teaching and related services staff
- Collaborate with District and building administration to project and ensure appropriate staffing levels
- Train, coach, and support program staff in providing evidence-based instructional programming and services
- Manage the day-to-day running of autism programming across the District
- Evaluation of certified and classified staff
- Act as LEA representative for all meetings
- Develop informational materials related to the program for stakeholders
Special Education Curriculum Specialist K-8
12.Conduct research and best practices in special education assessment, curriculum, intervention, and learning strategies
13. Collaborate with staff on selection of and piloting of evidence-based assessments, instructional materials, and resources
14. Develop specialized instruction program curriculum sequence and materials for ELA, math, and history K-8 to ensure
implementation of priority standards
15. Assist the Director in the planning and implementation of a comprehensive program of professional development
16. Provide staff development and ongoing coaching for staff in the areas of assessment, teaching strategies, interventions
and other topics as assigned
17. Assist the Director in the development of a comprehensive student data collection plan (diagnostic assessment and
progress monitoring)
18. Provide for the integration of technology and assistive technologies in teaching and learning practices
19. Assist with ordering and maintenance of all department technology licenses and teaching materials
Requirements:
- Bending, carrying, climbing, lifting, pushing-pulling, reaching, sitting, standing, and walking
- Must be able to occasionally lift, move, or push items of 30 lbs.

Terms of Employment:
- 200 days (10 month) contract
