Job Description
The Director of Field Human Resources is both hands-on and strategic collaborator that is responsible for leading the HR Business Partner structure for Monro's South Region. The Director of Field HR will ensure that Monro provides a teammate-oriented culture that focuses on supporting the organizational business unit through clear guidance and communication of HR programs, policies and resources.
The South Region includes frequent travel to California, Nevada, Idaho, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Missouri, Kentucky, Louisiana, Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, and Ohio.
The salary range for this role is $110,000 - $130,000 annually based on experience. This role is eligible for additional compensation such as bonuses or commission.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Management of HR Business Partners
- Manages, mentors and coaches all HR Business Partners to ensure the company is compliant with all federal, state and local HR laws.
- Provides direction to understand business strategies and initiatives as well as unique needs of various business units within Monro.
- Oversees initiation, implementation and execution of improvements in HR activities and ensures appropriate communication to managers and team members.
- Involved in development and support of the vision, direction, strategy and goals of the field HR team.
- Responsible for developing and maintaining budgets as assigned.
- Works closely with Sr Director of Corporate HR to ensure fair and consistent creation and administration of policies and procedures.
- Cascades HR involvement/information in administration of staffing, training, benefits and compensation to the organization via the HR Business Partners.
- Works with Sr Director of Corporate HR to create and modify policies and procedures as needed.
- Works to ensure the coordination and leadership between HR Business Partners and Support Center HR.
Teammate Relations
- Oversees and participates in investigations and teammate issues as needed with the HR Business Partners.
- Provides direction and approval to HR Business Partners on a wide variety of Teammate relation’s issues.
- Partners with Sr Director of Corporate HR & Legal to review significant Teammate relation issues to avoid significant costs and exposure.
- Provides direction, coaching and support to HR Business Partners regarding personnel practices, policy and employment laws.
Staffing and Retention
- Partners with Talent Acquisition Team and the HR Business Partners to forecast and assess their staffing needs and retention strategies.
- Works as the liaison between the Talent Acquisition Team and Ops to ensure a high level of support in recruiting and staffing in all zones.
- Works with Sr Director of Corporate HR to provide feedback on developing programs to create or enhance retention and recognition programs for existing teammates.
- Works with the Sr Director of Corporate HR to develop and implements talent readiness, succession planning and career development for existing teammates.
- Partners with the Sr Director of Corporate HR & HR Support to ensure we continue to be an employer of choice.
Performance Management and Compensation
- Works with Compensation to ensure we are executing a competitive compensation program that helps retain existing teammates and enables the company to successfully recruit top talent.
- Works with HR Business Partners to ensure merit and/or increases fall within deadlines and company pay guidelines.
- Advises HR Business Partners on performance improvement plans for those teammates not meeting expectations.
- Working with HR Leadership to create and communicate specific performance objectives for HR Business Partners.
- Partnering with Compensation, provide feedback as needed regarding the compensation guidelines and verify that the company stays competitive in the industry.
- Works with Operations and HR leaders to communicate performance metrics for the organization.
Government, Compliance and Acquisitions
- Advises Sr Director of Corporate HR and Legal on situations that increase risk or exposure to the organization.
- Advises HR Business Partners on company compliance policies and procedures.
- Reviews monthly reports created by HR, measuring unemployment, worker compensation, leave of absence, and required training progress.
- Reviews and stays current on all compliance related issues and other company, state, and federal specific training/requirements.
- Leads the HR function for all acquisitions, interfacing with other functional leaders and specialty HR departments as needed. Provides boots on the ground support with team for all acquisitions.
Organizational Development & Training
- Works with Sr Director of Corporate HR on new hire, teammate and manager training and development initiatives in an effort to build a best of class organization, increase productivity and enable internal career paths.
- Leads efforts to conduct mid-year reviews, annual reviews with field operations and the HR Business Partners.
- Ensures that the HR Business Partners are conducting training and following up with compliance that is aligned with Company programs and policies.
- Consults with Development Team on teammate skill development, performance and leadership.
- Monitors ASE certification controls to ensure HR Business Partners are requesting and documenting certifications
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- BA/MA degree in Human Resources Management or similar field of study.
- PHR or SPHR certified preferred.
- 10 years of progressive experience in managing Human Resources in multi-unit/state locations.
- Experience in managing exempt Human Resource professional onsite and remote.
- Strong, broad knowledge of Federal and State labor laws and strong experience with Employee Relations required.
- Experience in employment law, organization planning, and training and development.
- Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation stills with the ability to speak and communicate effectively with both senior management and front-line teammates.
- Excellent interpersonal and coaching skills.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and develop Human Resources team.
- Evidence of the practice of a high level of confidentiality.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Minimum 50%, up to 60% travel required.
