Description
Gain first-hand knowledge in the hospitality industry while spending a semester in a unique island resort setting. Moody Gardens’ goal is to help our interns gain a broader understanding of the industry and how to provide a memorable guest experience. To achieve this goal, interns focus on a specific department while rotating to a new department one day a week to gain insight in all areas of hospitality.
Tasks include, but are limited to:
- Assist with planning large seasonal events and exhibits, including budgeting, marketing, and coordinating with vendors
- Shadow managers to learn about department operations
- Attend meetings and trainings as scheduled
- Miscellaneous duties as required
Qualifications
- Currently studying business, parks & rec, or related field
- Must be reliable and responsible
- Ability to effectively work with internal and external customers
- Good communication and project management skills
- Ability to grasp, lift, carry or otherwise move or push goods on a hand cart weighing up to 50 pounds regularly
- Ability to remain on feet for long periods of time
- Ability to perform duties within extreme temperature ranges
