What are the responsibilities and job description for the Plater position at Moog Inc.?
Moog Aircraft Group has an opening for a Plater on 2nd shift (2:00pm-10:30pm) for our aerospace plant in Torrance, CA to work in the plating of various materials in a manufacturing environment. It is a fast paced, high reliability, high mix, and team oriented production environment.

Here's what you’ll be working on as a Plater:
- Coats ferrous and non-ferrous parts using chemical and electro-chemical plating, treating and cleaning processes, including: cadmium, copper, temper etch, white layer, anodizing, black oxide and hard chrome, vacuum cadmium deposition, copper, anodizing (Type 1, 11 and I11), chrome, electropolish, phosphatize, brush plating and them film.
- Plates various ferrous and non-ferrous materials.
- Determines from blueprint and work instructions the process and EOS the process to be used, the amount of treatment desired and surfaces to be masked.
- Some planning is required in determination of the best method of masking and racking.
- Computes capacity of tanks in relation to product, amount of current to use, measures amounts of chemicals and acids to use and determines timing for each process.
- Design racks on occasion when necessary. Must be able to interpret specifications.
- Checks the functioning of equipment periodically during the process to estimate additional plating time required.
- Loads and unloads parts.
- Visually inspects parts prior to unloading, for suitable surface for plating and after plating for coverage and buildup.
- Masks parts when required.
- Anodizes, dichromates and chrome pickles parts when volume of electro-plating does not require full time.
- Masks parts when required.
- Plates or processes experimental and development parts.
- Has basic knowledge of environmental regulations.
- Keeps work area clean.
- Performs other duties as required.
At a minimum, you’ll need to meet these Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Minimum 1 year of industrial processing experience
- Familiar with blueprint and/or sketch sheet reading
- Familiar with usage of various measuring equipment such as calipers, micrometers, gauges.
- Ability to read, interpret and follow technical instructions in English
- This position require access to export controlled information.
- FAA Safety Sensitive position; must meet FAA's drug and alcohol testing program requirements

Preferred Qualifications Include:
- Prefer industrial chemical plating experience in the aerospace industry
- 3 or more years of industry plating experience strongly preferred
