What are the responsibilities and job description for the Campus Mail Service Delivery Clerk position at Moravian University?
SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Works under the direction of the Mailroom Supervisor.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED: Oversees student employees as appropriate.
POSITION SUMMARY: This position is scheduled from 8:00 AM - 2:00 PM (including a 30 minute lunch) 2-3 days per week for twelve months a year with additional coverage hours on occasion. The mail delivery clerk is responsible for the movement of intercampus mail, USPS mail, and all packages and bulk deliveries. This position reports to the supervisor of the Mailroom. Due to the part-time status of this position, it is not eligible for benefits.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Pick up and deliver USPS mail and packages to and from the post office
- Assist with the sorting process and campus deliveries
- Distribute USPS mail, intercampus mail, and packages to designated locations according to schedule (including Hurd campus)
- Purchase and transport stamps as needed
- Transfer bulk mail materials to the processing center
- Make pick-ups and deliveries of miscellaneous materials both on and off campus
- Act as an agent for the University in transmitting funds to the post office for fees relating to permits, postage due, priority mail and express mail
- Develop and maintain communication and understanding of the operations of the USPS postal service, delivery vendors and campus personnel in order to maintain legal, efficient and prompt mail and delivery service
- Assist Mailroom Supervisor as needed; be skillfully trained to fill in for supervisor when necessary
- Operate the Neopost machine to meter outgoing mail and packages from the various departments
- Work with the Fleet Manager to maintain the campus mail vehicle, including purchasing gas and coordinating regular maintenance and inspection services
QUALIFICATIONS: A high school diploma coupled with one or two years of experience in a related field. Excellent customer service ability and refined interpersonal and communication skills are essential. Knowledge of US and international postal regulations is preferred. A valid driver's license in good standing is a requirement. Candidates must be in good physical health to lift heavy objects up to 100 pounds, as well as carry and distribute packages throughout the campus. Must be able to work in any type of weather conditions and be available for service when the institution may be operating remotely.
