What are the responsibilities and job description for the CO Community Response -Family Advocate position at Morgan County Family Center?
The Family Advocate works in Morgan County to support families who have been referred through the Child Welfare System. The Family Advocate will work to support and encourage families to identify their own strengths, assist them either directly or through referral efforts, and work with providers in the planning process for families and children. The Family Advocate will work in conjunction with the Morgan County Department of Human Services and community agencies to connect families to resources needed for success. The Family Advocate will coordinate local family advocacy efforts for families and will work with a variety of inter-agency efforts to expand the community's capacity to be responsive to family needs.
Some of the duties would include but not be limited to:
- Work with the local system of care toward the design, implementation and evaluation of a model of care that is collaborative, participation oriented and that views parents and families as key in the service provision and safety of children who are at risk.
- Work toward the linkage of family support networks (those that are focused on enhancing the ability of families and surrogate families to better care for children)
- Work with existing community information and referral systems for parents and families to enhance accessibility.
- Work with the Family Preservation Commission toward the identification of strengths and service gaps in Morgan County.
- Coordinate and/or provide services for up to 30 families.
- Become knowledgeable of the Colorado Community Response Program
- Provide education materials for parents and families.
- Demonstrate skills and sensitivity to the cultural and linguistic differences with respect to the population of Morgan County.
- Maintain records and files and provide data needed to complete the quarterly and year-end reports as required by the Colorado Community Response program.
- Be responsible to the Family Center Executive Director.

Pay: $15.74 - $16.99 per hour
