What are the responsibilities and job description for the Plate Making Services position at Morning Pointe?
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY:
Responsible to ensure quality of inks going to the Tray machines, PKE-60, and PF-47 presses to ensure the machines can acquire quality product at the desired target speed of each run.
SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITY:
• At beginning of shift, check all machines to ensure they have the inks needed to run
• Read, understand, and reviews job tickets to prepare the ink needed for production needs
• Set color and do drawdowns to ensure accuracy and quality of the ink
• Responsible for inks going to Tray machines, PKE-60, and PF-47, that the inks are at the right color, viscosity, and PH
• Use a computer to check old ink usage history in order to make sure we keep up with and maintain proper inventory levels for returned ink
• Work with supplier on ordering and keep up with inventory of the ink bases, additives, containers, and supplies
• Use a scale to make ink formula and perform drawdowns for both press and customer approval
• Must use an X-rite to check density, a PH meter to check PH of the ink, and a #3 Zahn cup to check viscosity
• Help mount plates for the PF-47 and the PKE-60 if needed
• Fill in on the PF-47 for lunch breaks and other times if needed
• Stay organized to file quality standards
• Put consignments away and maintain FIFO
• Keep up with production and maintain a clean work area
• Ability to train others on the dispenser and how to perform quality checks
• Must possess professional appearance and mannerism with the ability to positively interact and represent the company to customers
• Troubleshoot, diagnose and assist in the repair of the equipment and perform routine cleaning and maintenance
• Keep up and monitor waste ink levels to be disposed of
• Keep coating supplied to the presses
QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have basic computer skills and possess ability to utilize software. Must have mechanical skills and abilities.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Must have the ability to read and understand documents, letters, etc. and write legibly in English. Must be able to understand and speak clearly, communicate, and understand directions in English as needed.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Must have the ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide both fractions and decimals, solve equations, read measurements, and have an understanding of both standard and metric measuring systems.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, these positons are regularly required to walk, stand, use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls and reach with arms and hands. Frequently required to climb, balance, twist, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and frequently must lift/move 25 to 75 pounds. A person must be able to perform these functions for a minimum of 8 hours straight (with a 30-minute meal break any other applicable breaks during his/her shift) on a regular basis. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
