What are the responsibilities and job description for the Credit Analyst position at Mortimer Lumber?
The Credit Analyst for the Eastern Business Unit (EBU) provides primary support to the Credit Manager in all aspects of credit administration and day-to-day operations of the division credit department.
The employee's primary duty must be the performance of office or non-manual work directly related to the management or general business operations of Helena or Helena's customers. This also includes the exercise of discretion and independent judgement with respect to matters of significance.
What your day may look like
- Reviews credit requests submitted by branches for adequate support and documentation and and establishes credit lines within the level of authority set by company policy ($1-$25,000). Follows up for supplemental information where needed.
- Communicates with financial institutions and other creditors to obtain credit experience on new or existing customers.
- Assists Credit Manager or Assistant Credit Manager in monitoring payment activity and delinquent accounts and initiating appropriate collection measures, subject to the Credit Manager's direction.
- Maintains credit files for all customers in conformity with company credit file documentation guidelines and assists Credit Manager in periodic reviews and updating of these credit files.
- Responds to inquiries from competitors, credit bureaus and financial institutions for credit experience on mutual customers.
- Other administrative duties as assigned by leader.
- Reliable and regular attendance is expected.
Education and experience needed for this position
Candidates must meet one of the following education and/or experience requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business or related field.
- Combined/equivalent of 5 years advanced education and related experience.
- 7 years of work related experience.

- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Written and verbal communications skills.
- Decision making skills.
- Analytical skills.
- NACM, CBA or BBF designations preferred.
Your work environment and the physical aspects of the job
The work environment for this position is that of a typical office environment where the noise level is mostly quiet. This position requires you to use your hands for many different tasks and to talk, hear, walk, stand and sit. You may be occasionally required to lift or move up to 10 pounds.
