Major responsibilities Include the following: Other duties may be assigned.
• Performs and oversees quality functions to assure product integrity.
• Obtains and analyzes samples throughout the process, evaluates results, and recommends or carries out remedial actions as delegated.
• Enters all test results, observations, etc in appropriate logs per data entry requirements.
• Prepares Quality reports on a daily, weekly, monthly schedule.
• Prepares laboratory solutions and reagents, maintains lab fixtures, equipment, and instruments in a clean, neat and orderly fashion.
• Ensures the accuracy of laboratory analysis by routine standardization, calibrations, etc as directed by Good Laboratory Practices.
• Monitors and sets all additive pumps and feeders throughout the process.
Responsible for the weight capability studies
• Observes facility operations to determine/ensure quality of operators and equipment performance.
• Serves as a technical resource for facility employees.
• Follows and enforces GMP and Quality program.
• Follows and enforces Safety program.
• Assures compliance with environmental regulations and reports any and all excursions.
- Responsible for providing support for Corporate driven quality initiatives, projects, and investigations
- Responsible for cross training with Quality Coordinator’s duties to provide essential support for quality initiatives
- Maintains current First Aid, CPR/ AED Certification; Blood borne Pathogen Training to provide assistance as required.
• Assists with training new employees and assures all employees are kept current in their training. - Responsible for familiarity of Global Standards as they apply to FSSC
- 1st shift Lab Tech; Responsible for filling in for Quality Coordinator during absences and is familiar with all aspects of Coordinator’s role
• Remains current in all required company and job related training.

• Essential Duties

• As Food Safety Plan (FSP) Team Member shall ensure duties or work instructions are in place and communicated to all staff involved with the plant’s FSP program and how it applies to product safety, legality, and quality.

Qualifications:
Education and/or Experience:
A 2 year degree with 1-3 years of related experience and/or training preferred; or equivalent combination of advanced education and experience.
Language Skills:
Must have the ability to read, analyze, and interpret general instructions, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations. Must have the ability to write general correspondence, reports, business correspondence, log data entries, etc. Must have the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of employees, managers, clients, customers, regulatory agencies and the general public.
Other:
Basic desktop computer skills a must, experience with SAP is beneficial.
Experience with quality systems.
Background and understanding of industry practices, general environmental protocols, application of safety and quality standards and dealing with people is required.
FSP certification a plus.
Special Working Conditions/physical requirements
• Works in general office and manufacturing plant environment.
• May work any shift, as assigned - flexible schedule and overtime may be required. Responds to urgent or emergency situations outside of normal working hours, as needed.
• Works in seated or standing positions for prolonged periods of time. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to walk; sit and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is required to stand; be at heights; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs and ladders or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, walk/work on open grating. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 20 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 65 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and ability to adjust focus.
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts; vibration, high, precarious places; fumes and/or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; steam, liquids and gases at various pressures and temperatures and variations of environmental temperatures, including outside weather conditions and extremely hot, humid inside conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate with potential to high noise level areas. Personal Protective Equipment, hairnets and beard snoods must be worn as required.
The typical starting salary ranges from $54,000 to $62,000 depending on prior experience.
