What are the responsibilities and job description for the Property Accountant position at MOSSER?
This position is hybrid, it can be partially remote but required to be in office once per month.
Position Summary: The Property Accountant is expected to produce a high volume of complex accounting reports for portfolios in operations. The accountant will also perform the duties listed below and other duties assigned.
Essential Functions:
Prepare and maintain full balance sheet reconciliations for portfolios in operations- Produce accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports for internal and external reporting in accordance with a close calendar
- Prepare recurring and adjusting journal entries, including cash, monthly accruals and amortization
- Reconcile cash accounts
- Review, investigate, and correct errors and inconsistencies in financial entries, documents, and reports
- Import Budget uploads and prepare financial statements
- Prepare transfers for intercompany payments, and wires for external payments
- Assist with audit fieldwork for both operational and financial audits
- Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations
- Special projects as needed
Knowledge, Skill and Experience:
2 years of property accounting experience required and 5 years of property accounting experience preferred- Self-driven for results to exceed goals and deadlines
- Must be a team-player having ability to multi-task and prioritize
- Must possess solid written and verbal communication, problem-solving skills and maintain a high level of attention to detail
- Solid understanding of GAAP Accounting
- Punctual, courteous, professional, and reliable
- Detail-oriented with willingness and aptitude to learn
- Ability to work independently and as a team member
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Internet Explorer Outlook)
- Skills and experience using property accounting software (Yardi preferred)
- BA/BS at 4-year university (focus in accounting, finance, economics preferred)
